Change and Greece

Hey guys :-)
It's time for some news. Since my last post happened a lot^^. The most profound change in my life was that I finished school which definitely gave me a new feeling of freedom :-) although I had a great time at high school. After a memorable week on a sailing boat in Croatia with my schoolmates I stayed some time in my hometown Graz. Then I I travelled to Kalymnos with my girl :-). We spent 3 awesome weeks on the Greek Island. Apart from some great climbing we took many pictures and checked out several beaches. Moreover we were overwhelmed by the hospitality of the locals. Especially Stefanos, the guy who owns the apartments where we stayed, and his family made us feel very welcome. In case you ever plan a trip to the island I can highly recommend staying at their place. The family is exceptionally friendly and accommodation is cheap (http://www.climbinghouse.gr/).  On one of our rest days we  went to Pothia which is the capital of the island. There are plenty of interesting things to see, including a very stylish museum of Kalymnian history.

The harbor of Pothia
The climbing was outstanding and we did some great climbs. My girlfriend climbed routes up to 7a+ mostly onsight or second go. I climbed routes up to 8a+, some of my best ascents:

Punto Caramelo 8a+ rp.
Sardonique 8a/8a+ rp.
Daniboy 8a rp.
Angry Bird 8a sec. go
Ourania 8a sec. go
Angelica 8a rp.

If you are interested in my whole ticklist just visit my 8a.nu page :-) I also tried the prestigious O'draconian Devil (8b) but I couldn't do it although I came pretty close. Never mind now I have a reason to return ;-). Some more pics (unfortunately there are hardly any climbing pics as we usually climbed only two by two):

Peace :-)

Busy times

Hey guys :-)

It has been quite long ago since I wrote my last post. Many things happened. I participated in a couple of comps, I trained and I completed the written part of my A-levels. I won't write about all the comps because it probably would be quite boring xD. Just a brief overview: After the Austria-Cup in Saalfelden, I was in Linz for a bouldering comp. I finished on 29th of 46 place with 4 tops in 19 tries. Actually there was a pretty awkward dyno which took me 10 tries. I was a bit sad because I fell on the last move of a really cool boulder on my very last try. Two and a half hours have already passed by but all the climbers who got on the wall in time were allowed to finish their attempt. Unfortunately I got a bit stressed and fell while I was reaching for the ultimate hold. If I had reached that top I would have finished on 17th position (full results: http://reini-sport.at/bou_ergebnis.php?idklasse=12&idbewerb=973&rgsort=1). In the Juniors Ranking I got the 9th place. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of this comp. The following weekend I was in Vienna at the third bouldering A-Cup. I really enjoyed this comp. I managed to secure the 18th place in the men's category which actually is my first top-20 place in a bouldering A-Cup in this category :-). In the juniors ranking I finished on fifth place. I was really happy as I managed to continuously improve my performances (results:http://reini-sport.at/bou_ergebnis.php?idklasse=12&idbewerb=974&rgsort=1). Next, I was in Mitterdorf at the Styrian lead championship where I won :-). The routes were quite interesting, especially the final route. The only thing I definitely disliked was the fact that there were only two other competitors in my category (http://www.wettklettern.org/?Mode=ShowErgebnis&BewerbId=188&KlassenID=10). After that competition I had a short break which I used to complete my written exams at school and then I was in Liezen for the Styrian bouldering championship. I was a bit unlucky and finished on third place which is kind of disappointing but I still had a good time :-) (results: http://www.wettklettern.org/?Mode=ShowErgebnis&BewerbId=192&KlassenID=10).

Bye for now :-)
