A-Cup Saalfelden

Hey folks :-)

Last weekend I was in Saalfelden and participated in the Lead Austria-Cup which took place in a completely new gym. In the first qualifying route I was the first athlete to climb, consequently I was quite nervous. Nevertheless, I reached a score of 27+ which placed me on 7th position after the first route. In the second route I reached a score of 32+ which secured the 8th place for me. I really liked this route and I think I could have climbed a little bit further but I didn't place my left leg in the right way on a sidepull in a delicate sequence with a really flat sloper near the top. With these two scores I finished the qualifying round on 8th position. Therefore I was qualified for the final of the best 10 climbers. The final route looked really interesting. Right at the beginning there was a sequence on two volumes which looked pretty bouldery but it turned out to be much easier than expected. After approximately two thirds of the route there was tricky sequence where almost all competitors fell. It started with a delicate cross move to a slopy pinch. Unfortunately I didn't check out this pinch from the ground because I thought it won't be a problem to grab it. So I crossed to the pinch and when I grabbed it, it felt really bad. I slowly started to try to get my body's center of gravity under the pinch which was attached to a volume. I started to feel a little bit more comfortable but I still had to change feet. At this moment my foot slipped from the only foothold and I fell. I was a little bit disappointed because I knew I could have climbed at least a bit further and a few moves more could have meant a much better result. So I ended up on 10th place with a score of 25 (full results:http://reini-sport.at/vst_ergebnis.php?idklasse=12&idbewerb=972&rgsort=1) Most of the other athletes climbed this sequence slightly different. I guess I simply had the wrong beta in my head. However, it was great fun to climb in the great gym of Saalfelden :-). Next weekend I'll participate in a bouldering Austria-Cup in Linz. Looking forward to bouldering again :-)

keep climbing :-)
